What does the American Chinees trade war have to do with babies?

The rise of China as a global empire didn’t happen without the notice of the United States, the current global superpower. Over the past 500 years, there were 16 cases of a rising empire threatening to displace an existing power, and 12 of these circumstances ended in a military war.

Thucydides Trap, have you heard of it? The trap we’re all in together.

Thucydides Trap, coined by Graham Allison, makes vivid Thucydides’s insight. Thucydides was THE first historian, and he wrote about the history of Sparta overcoming Athens, the leading power 2500 years ago. His Insight is that there is an apparent tendency towards war when an emerging power threatens to displace an existing great power as a regional or international hegemon.

The USA claims that China seeks world domination. China claims no such ambition. What’s the case in reality?

In December 2022 I participated in a conference in Tel Aviv, and on the agenda was the triangular relationship between the USA, Israel, and China. A few keynote speakers included Efraim Halevy, Former Chief of the Mossad, and Cai Run, Chinese Ambassador to Israel. On the one hand, the American speakers insisted that China was aggressively pursuing a policy to become the dominant power in the Middle East and in the international arena. On the other hand, the Chinees speakers insisted that they seek economic opportunities only, and have absolutely no interest in stepping into the US’s position as world hegemony. And in the middle, the Israeli speakers were split down the middle.

So who’s speaking the truth?

America's return to world hegemony

At the end of the Cold War, the USA stood without opposition to its position on the world stage, making it an indisputable hegemony. However, in the early 2000s, China began growing in strength, and Vladimir Putin's rise to power in Russia slowly shifted the world from a single-pole to a tripolar world. However, the war in Ukraine and Covid 19 are changing the balance of power in the world. The developments in the past couple of years give the USA a shot at regaining its status as a world power in the coming years and shaping a world order for the coming century.

Despite heavy sanctions from the West, the Russian forces are still advancing in Ukrain after 165 days of the war. And over $1 billion a day are poring into the Russian economy, fueling the war mashing.

Another Perspective – Did Washington promises Gorbachev that NATO wouldn’t expand eastward? Why does Putin care if NATO expands?

On the 27th of February, 2022, Russian forces invaded Ukraine, claiming to protect people subjected to bullying and genocide, and aiming for the "demilitarization and de-Nazification" of Ukraine. In reality, Putin wishes to install a pro-Russian government in Ukraine and eliminate the possibility that Ukraine joins NATO.

American Weapons - where are they ending up, and why?

American military power is reflected in its technological superiority with advances in cyber, space, guided and ballistic missiles, and especially American fighter jets. The global arms market is also of diplomatic importance, with the United States as a leading supplier of advanced weapons gaining a significant advantage.

When will green energy become the majority of energy produced world wide?

Green energy is a grand promise for the future of humanity. Green energy will slow global warming and reduce the high costs of importing energy in the form of fossil fuels. However, the predicted change is farther into the future than it seems.
